The Cytogenetics Technologist (Research Specialist) will provide technical services and other related responsibilities within the Cytogenetic Lab to include performing cytogenetic techniques, including but not limited to preparation and karyotyping of G-banded chromosomes and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and performing tissue culture of human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) lines and related cell lines.
The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related science and a minimum of one year of laboratory experience. Experience in sterile culture techniques and G-banded chromosome preparation and analysis is required. Preferred experience includes ASCP(CG) certification in clinical cytogenetics; and experience in culturing human embryonic stem cells. In addition, the candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others in a laboratory setting. The ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and demonstrate high degree of accuracy, reliability and responsibility is essential.
